The President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) and wife of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, has commissioned the COWA office in Sokoto and empowered widows of fallen customs officers.
The event, held at the Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command headquarters, featured the distribution of empowerment materials to families of deceased officers.
Mrs. Adeniyi said the gesture was part of COWA’s effort to support customs families and promote women’s self-reliance, describing empowerment as a key to unlocking potentials.
She noted that the association also prioritizes the health and well-being of officers’ families, stressing the importance of regular medical checks, exercise, and healthy living among women.
The COWA President further urged mothers to ensure their children are vaccinated against measles and rubella, describing immunization as a lifesaving intervention.
Mrs. Adeniyi also highlighted her Green Border Sustainability Initiative, which focuses on tree planting and combating climate change through afforestation programmes.
In her speech, wife of the Sokoto State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Ahmed Aliyu, commended Mrs. Adeniyi for her commitment to women’s empowerment, health promotion, and environmental conservation.
