Senator Wamakko Sponsors 100 Youths To Undergo Training In Renewal Energy

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has demonstrated his commitment to sponsoring 100 youths from Sokoto Central Zone for intensive training in renewable energy, focusing on solar photovoltaic systems.
The beneficiaries will undergo a 21-day theoretical and practical training where they will be trained in solar installation, maintenance and repairs, with each participant to receive a complete working kit, and a start-up allowance to support their journey toward self-reliance after the training.
The training, which has commenced, aims to equip young people with practical skills that promote both economic independence and environmental sustainability as described by Dr Ibrahim Dan Malan, Deputy Director of the Sokoto Energy Research Centre of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, the initiative is seen as a vital effort to expand financial opportunities for youths while contributing to environmental protection and climate resilience.
Representing Senator Wamakko at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Almustafa Abubakar Alkali, said the program is designed to provide solar solutions within the constituency and complement state government efforts toward job creation.
He emphasised that the initiative would help combat climate change, foster self-reliance, and empower young people to become productive members of their communities.
Alkali further announced that Senator Wamakko had made provisions for participants’ feeding, transportation, training equipment, and start-up capital to ensure a smooth learning process and successful transition into entrepreneurship.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Ahmed Baba Altine, commended the initiative, noting the growing importance of renewable energy in addressing global warming and promoting economic freedom. He described Senator Wamakko as “a true politician without borders,” urging other leaders to focus on impactful projects within their states rather than seeking attention elsewhere.
The Director of the Sokoto Energy Research Centre, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Prof. Mu'azu Musa, also praised the Senator’s foresight in harnessing the natural resources of Sokoto State. He encouraged participants to pay close attention to the training curriculum.
Similarly, Dr Sama’ila Buda, Deputy Director of the Centre, advised trainees to remain open-minded and committed, assuring them that the centre uses one of the best solar training manuals in the country. He encouraged them to invest in the Senator’s start-up token wisely to establish viable solar businesses.
Participants from across the Sokoto Central Senatorial District expressed deep appreciation to Senator Wamakko, pledging to make the best use of the opportunity.
Speakers at the event agreed that the program goes beyond financial empowerment; it represents a significant step toward youth participation in renewable energy and is aligned with global efforts to address climate change.
