Sokoto Commissioner Chairs Briefing Session For Ongoing Schools Monitoring

The Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Sokoto State, Professor A. L. Ala, chaired the Week Six Day One briefing session for the ongoing school monitoring and supervision exercise at Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Katin Sani Mabera.

The briefing was attended by all Directors, Zonal Directors, and Quality Assurance Officers from the Ministry. In his address, the Honourable Commissioner charged the team members to be diligent and committed during the supervision exercise. 

He emphasized the importance of assessing teaching and learning outcomes in classrooms, urging the team to focus on both teacher performance and student engagement.

Following the briefing, Prof. Ala led the monitoring team on field visits to  schools, including Government Girls Day Secondary School (GGDSS) Sarkin Yamma Kware, Bankanu Primary School Kware, and Junior Secondary School (JSS) Bankanu Kware.

During the visits, the Honourable Commissioner interacted with students in their classrooms, posed questions related to the lessons being taught, and engaged with teachers regarding their instructional responsibilities. 

He also reviewed their lesson notes and lesson plans to ensure compliance with academic standards.

All school principals, headteachers, and teaching staff were present during the visits. At each location, Prof. Ala held brief meetings with school leaders and teaching staff, where he reiterated the state government's commitment to improving education delivery across Sokoto State.

 He also solicited their cooperation and input in moving the education sector forward.

The ongoing monitoring and supervision exercise underscores the Ministry’s dedication to quality assurance and continuous improvement in the teaching and learning process across public schools in the state.
