Sokoto Lawmaker Commends SUBEB Chairman For Effective Management Of Boar's Activities.

The Tenth State House of Assembly Committee on Basic and Secondary Education under the leadership of Member representing Sabon Birni West Constituency, Hon. Aminu Almustapha Boza, has commended the Executive Chairman of the  State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)Sokoto, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal for his outstanding leadership and effective management of the Board’s activities.

Hon. Boza made the commendation during the Committee’s ongoing 2025 budget performance review with Ministries, Departments and Agencies and aimed at assessing their achievements, challenges, and future plans for improved service delivery.

He particularly praised the various initiatives introduced by the SUBEB Chairman, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, which established a monitoring committee to verify and evaluate projects executed by contractors before payments are made to ensuring transparency, accountability, and quality assurance in project implementation.

Hon. Boza emphasized that government requires leaders with integrity, sincerity, and the fear of Allah like the current SUBEB boss especially in this era where accountability and good governance are vital.

The Committee Chairman also lauded the efforts of the Board Secretary, Alhaji Mamuda Ahmad Wamakko, and the Director of Physical Planning, Engineer Sanusi Bunu Talban Dogondaji, for their support and contributions toward the success of the Board’s activities and for aligning with Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s vision of revitalizing education across the state. 

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, disclosed that the Board recently received a commendation letter from the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Abuja, Hajiya Aishatu, in recognition of the Board’s strict adherence to UBEC operational guidelines and its remarkable achievements.

He stated that in the past year, SUBEB successfully executed education improvement projects across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State, including the provision of furniture, teaching and learning materials, and the completion of new school buildings such as the one in Bada Bada town and the renovation of Danbaba Model Primary School in Sokoto South.

The Chairman further noted that many other projects are ongoing across different areas, while some have already been completed. 

He reaffirmed his commitment that any contractor who fails to complete agreed projects will not be paid, warning that anyone who defaults must either refund the money or face legal consequences.

Alhaji Umar Nagwari also appealed for additional operational vehicles to enhance supervision and monitoring of schools and educational materials across the state. 

The budget review interactive session was attended by Permanent Member I of the Board, Alhaji Shehu Buda Badau; Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Mamuda Ahmad Wamakko; Director of Administration, Alhaji Tukur Abdullahi; Director of Junior Secondary Schools, Malam Muhammad Abubakar; Director of Quality Assurance, Malam Umar Muhammad Sanyinna; Acting Director of Finance, Aminu Majidadi Wamakko; and other principal officers of the Board.
