Zamfara Monarch Urges Youths To Acquire Skills Acquisition So As To Become Self Reliant

The Emir of Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State Northwest Nigeria, His Royal Highness Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha, has urged the Youths in the state particularly those in his emirate to embrace entrepreneurship so that they can become self-reliant at the end of their training.
The monarch made the call today while commissioning a three-day training course for 167 students at the Almustaqil Technical and Vocational Training College in Kaura Namoda.
He said, the training was in collaboration with the Federal Ministry Of Education and the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Commission (NTVET) which has approved the new TVET programmes.
“Technical skills are the best way to equip our youths while they are in tertiary institutions to secure employment upon completion of their studies,” the Emir said.
He added that at the end of the training, participants would be awarded certificates of completion.
He advised the Almustaqil School Board to prioritize 30% classroom learning and 70% practical learning for students to develop creative skills among students.
He stressed that government alone cannot create jobs for everyone, saying it was time for the youth to change their mindset through vocational skills while in school so that they could become self-reliant.
In his remarks, The Director of Almustaqil Technical and Vocational Training College, Namoda, Mohammed A. Nasiru Makwashi, explained that the theme of the training was to empower the youth through vocational skills and arts for sustainable development.
According to him, under the NBTE TVET Initiative Program, the institution has got approval to conduct twelve vocational training courses for the students who will attend the training.
He further stated that the approved professions include, poultry farming, sewing, food and hotel management, electrical installation, social media computer services, welding and others.
