ACF Silver Jubilee : Sultan, Ooni Othes  Advocate For Unity In Nigeria

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, have called for unity, love and mutual understanding among Nigerians 


The monarchs made the call during the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) held in Kaduna 

His Eminence, the  Sultan of Sokoto, therefore, lmplored Nigerians to unite and eschew differences that could tear the country apart, adding that, despite the diversity, Nigerians must learn to be united 

Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar further said that Nigerians of all backgrounds, Christians, Muslims, traditionalists, and people of diverse ethnic groups must always remember that they are bound by a common destiny under one nation 

" Despite the diversity, Nigerians must learn to be united. Recognising and respecting differences is the only way to build a society anchored on dignity, mutual respect, and national cohesion "

“Once we understand who we are, we will be able to work with one another with all dignity,” he said.

In the same vein, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, highlighted the importance of unity, peaceful coexistence, healthy relationships across the country 

The monarch in his speech, who described himself as "a friend of the North " also lamented that security had become the most pressing challenges confronting the region but warned against dwelling solely on the negative, therefore urged Nigerians to also highlight the North’s strengths, opportunities and cultural influence just as other nations promote their nations internal issues 

Earlier, in his address, the ACF's Chairman Board of Trustees Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, Wazirin Dutse, said, the Arewa Consultative Forum is a conglomeration of associations, merged together under an umbrella aimed at strengthening Northern unity 

"Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF with the stated aim, among others, of: Fostering, promoting, defending and strengthening Northern unity and interests of its people in the context of one indivisible Nigeria "

" To set up machinery for regular consultation and dialogue to ensure that issues likely to cause breach of the peace or undermine Northern unity are settled amicably and promptly "

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was represented by the Speaker, Federal House of Representative, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen,  other dignitaries at the occasion were former Vice Presidents, Atiku Abubakar and Architect Namadi Sambo respectively, former governors and businessmen, others were members of Afenifere, Ohaneze Ndigbo, PANDEF, BRAC and other socio-cultural organisations.
