Adisa Raji Inaugurates ₦4.1 Billion Road Project in Sokoto

The former Military Administrator of Sokoto State, Navy Captain Abdul Rashid Adisa Raji (Rtd), has commissioned the 14.4km Buzulega-Lukuwa-Yargada-Malikawa rural road project.

 The project was executed under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), a collaborative effort between the World Bank, the Federal Government, the French Government, and the Sokoto State Government, at a cost of ₦4,164,165,948.20.
During the commissioning ceremony, the State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, highlighted the significance of the partnership in improving the state's infrastructure and the lives of its citizens. He noted that the road project links the Gwadabawa, Kware, and Wurno Local Government Areas, thereby enhancing connectivity and economic integration among these communities. 

According to him, the project is expected to positively impact the socio-economic activities of the communities by improving access to markets, healthcare facilities, and other essential services.
The Governor expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government, the World Bank, and the French Government for their support in making the project a reality. Dr. Aliyu stated that the current administration is committed to ensuring that the state's infrastructure is developed to meet the needs of its growing population. 

He noted that the administration is working tirelessly to ensure that all the Local Government Areas in the state are connected by good roads, which is essential for economic growth and development.

In his address during the inauguration of the road, Navy Captain Adisa Raji (Rtd) emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in enhancing the quality of life for the people.

Captain Raji commended the people of Sokoto State for their resilience and determination, which have contributed to the success of the state government.
 According to him, the successful execution of the Buzulega-Lukuwa-Yargada-Malikawa road project is a testament to Governor Ahmed Aliyu's commitment to investing in infrastructure that enhances the quality of life for the people and promotes economic growth and development in the state. 

He added that the project is expected to have a lasting impact on the socio-economic development of the beneficiary communities.

The chairmen of Gwadabawa, Kware, and Wurno Local Government Areas expressed their gratitude to the Governor for the project, describing it as a game-changer for their respective communities. 

They pledged to ensure that the road is properly maintained and used to promote economic activities in their areas.

The National Coordinator of RAAMP, Engineer Aminu Muhammad, represented by Engineer Abubakar Yahaya, said the project demonstrates the program's commitment to improving rural infrastructure and promoting economic development in the state.

 Engineer Abubakar Yahaya further stated that the project is part of the larger RAAMP program, which aims to improve the socio-economic well-being of rural communities in Sokoto State and other participating states.

He expressed optimism that the project will have a multiplier effect on the economy of the state and improve the living standards of the people.
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Sokoto State on Rural Roads, Hon. Malami Muhammad Galadanchi, described the project as a milestone in the state's development agenda.

He commended the Governor for his commitment to rural infrastructure development and thanked the RAAMP management for partnering with the state to deliver the project.

 Hon Galadanchi assured that the state government will continue to prioritize rural road development to enhance economic activities and improve the lives of the people.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III, in a goodwill message, noted that the road project is a significant milestone in the state's development journey and will undoubtedly improve the lives of the people in the beneficiary communities.

He prayed for the continued peace and prosperity of the state and its people and urged the citizens to take ownership of the road and use it to improve their economic well-being.

The occasion was attended by notable personalities, including the former Governor of Sokoto State, now Senator representing Sokoto North senatorial district, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the state Deputy Governor, Engineer Idris Muhammad Gobir, former Deputy Governors, Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, Barrister Muktari Shagari, party officials, and businessmen, among others.
