JAREI Commends SUBEB Chairman For Uplifting The Standard Of Education In Sokoto State

The Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, has received a working visit from officials of the Jemilius Aid and Relief Initiative (JAREI), an Abuja-based humanitarian and development organization.

The delegation, led by the Executive Director of JAREI, Mrs. Jemima Zugwai Dabo, was warmly received on behalf of the Executive Chairman by the Director of Administration, Alhaji Tukur Abdullahi, at the Board’s headquarters in Sokoto.

In her remarks, the Executive Director of JAREI, Mrs. Dabo, stated that the purpose of their visit was to explore areas of collaboration with SUBEB in implementing intervention projects aimed at supporting educational development particularly for the girl-child.

She further explained that JAREI is committed to improving the standard of living among vulnerable women, youths (adolescent boys and girls), children, and persons with disabilities by implementing sustainable livelihood interventions.

The organization also aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through participatory humanitarian and developmental projects that reduce the mortality rate of women and children, provide access to quality healthcare, and promote educational participation among women, girls, and boys through advocacy and empowerment initiatives.

Mrs. Dabo commended the leadership of Sokoto SUBEB for its proactive policies and innovative programmes designed to promote inclusive and quality education across the State. 

She revealed that JAREI has already commenced intervention activities in five selected schools across Sokoto North, Sokoto South, and Wamakko Local Government Areas.

The benefiting schools included GDSS Sarkin Gona,JSS Rukubawa,Yahaya Abdukarim JSS, Sokoto Institute of Islamic Studies, Ahmad Danbaba Model Primary Schools

In his response, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, represented by the Director of Administration, Alhaji Tukur Abdullahi, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to partnering with any development organization or individual whose vision aligns with promoting quality and inclusive education in Sokoto State.

He emphasized that under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, SUBEB continues to receive full government support towards the construction of new schools, renovation of dilapidated structures, provision of potable water, classroom furniture, teaching and learning materials, and improved welfare and remuneration for teachers.

He added that the remarkable progress being recorded in the education sector has continued to attract the attention and collaboration of several development partners who are eager to contribute to the collective goal of revitalizing education across the State.
