SOSG: Making History With Legendary Market Projects In BODINGA LOCAL Government.

BY CHAIRMAN NUJ SOKOTO STATE COUNCIL,USMAN MOHAMMED BINJI.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Sokoto State Council, today inspected the ongoing construction of three major markets initiated by the Sokoto State Government in Bodinga Local Government Area.

The projects include a modern foodstuff market, a cattle and ruminant market, and a standard abattoir, all designed to reposition the area as a major commercial hub in northern Nigeria.
The visit formed part of the NUJ’s statewide project assessment tour aimed at showcasing both completed and ongoing government projects that reflect the development strides of the present administration.
For decades, Bodinga has served as a traditional trading centre attracting buyers and merchants from across the country,

particularly from the southern regions. It has long been a meeting point for agricultural produce, livestock, and local crafts, symbolizing a bond between the northern and southern markets.
The new markets, when completed, are expected to rekindle this historic spirit and elevate Bodinga into one of the most vibrant commercial centres in the North.

Residents and traders expressed optimism that the new facilities will enhance business operations, improve hygiene standards, and expand economic opportunities for youths and women.

The abattoir is expected to promote healthier meat processing practices, while the foodstuff and livestock markets will drive inter-regional trade and generate more revenue for the state.

By investing in such monumental projects, the Sokoto State Government under the able leadership of Governor Ahmed Aliyu sokoto,PhD is not only transforming the economic landscape of Bodinga but also writing a new chapter in the state’s development history.
The vision aligns with broader efforts to stimulate rural economies, create jobs, and strengthen the link between local production and national markets.
The NUJ delegation expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of work, noting that such projects demonstrate the government’s genuine commitment to inclusive growth and grassroots empowerment.

The inspection continues as part of the Union’s ongoing statewide tour to assess projects with tangible impacts on communities across Sokoto State.
