2025 SOKOTO STATE BUDGET PERFORMANCE REVIEW
HOUSE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SERVICE MATTERS LED BY HON ATIKU LIMAN GANDE (SILAME CONST)
In line with the Provision of Section 128 Subsection 1 & 2 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the 10th Sokoto State House of Assembly Committee on Public Service Matters under the Chairmanship of Hon Atiku Liman Gande ( Silame Const) today Wednesday 22nd October 2025 hosted the Representatives of:
*Office of the Head of Service
*Civil Service Commission
*Judicial Service Commission
*State Independent Electoral Commission
*Local Government Service Commission
*Office of Establishment who were at the Hon House for the 2025 Budget Performance Review.
Annual Budget Performance Review by the State Legislature is very important for Promoting Good Governance and Accountability.
Through this Review, the Legislature Ensures that Public Funds are Properly Used and that Government Spending Reflects the Needs and Priorities of the People.
It Promotes Transparency by Allowing Citizens to know how Revenue is Raised and Spent. The Review also Helps to Prevent Financial Mismanagement and Wasteful Expenditure by Carefully Scrutinizing the MDAs Approved Financial Allocations in the Budget of the year under Review. In addition, it serves as a Constitutional Check on the MDAs, Ensuring all Government Expenditures are Subject to Oversight.
Lawmakers, Representing their Constituencies, use the process to Advocate for Fair and Balanced Resource Distribution across sectors with the Most Important of them given a Greater Attention.
By Assessing the Performance of the Budget under of the year under Review, the Legislature can make Necessary Adjustments to Improve Future Budget and its Implementation.
Overall, the Annual Budget Performance Review Strengthens Accountability, Enhances Transparency, and Supports Economic Stability within the State.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the Committee Hon Atiku Liman Gande (Silame Const) emphasized the Importance of the Review for the Development of the State and that the Review was not intended to witch-hunt anybody. He said the review was anchored on:
🔷 Revenue generated by the organizations and its status.
🔷Funds released by the State Government to the organizations and how it was utilised including the results and challenges encountered.
Leaders of the delegations furnished the Committee with their Financial Activities during the First, Seconded and Third Quarter of the year 2025.
