Archbishop Yahaya Calls for Peace, Unity Among Nigerians

The Archbishop of Kaduna Province and Bishop of Kaduna Diocese, Most Rev'd Dr. Timothy Yahaya, has called on Nigerians to use the Christmas season as a period for unity, compassion and renewed prayers for the nation.

The call was made by the Archbishop in his Christmas message, where he described Christmas as a season of joy and salvation,

According to him, Nigerians should use the season to remember the less privileged, pray for the country and support security agencies working tirelessly to protect lives and property.

“At a time like this, let us remember the less privileged, pray for Nigeria and pray for our security forces. Let us also pray that this country will maximise its potential,” Archbishop Yahaya said.

He expressed hope that the joy of Christmas would overcome bitterness, division and hatred, guiding Nigerians towards unity and a shared resolve to build a peaceful, prosperous and great nation.

Reacting on his participation in the recent Christmas carol organised by the Kaduna State Government, Archbishop Yahaya described the event as historic and symbolic. He said the initiative reflected a return to the spirit of unity that once defined Kaduna State, where Christians and Muslims celebrated together without suspicion or division.

“We have a leader who is a unifier and who wants to carry everyone along as citizens. This has brought joy to well-meaning residents of Kaduna State,” he said, adding that he hoped the initiative would be sustained and replicated across the country.
The clergyman also highlighted what he described as the “seven messages of Christmas,” drawn from John 3:16.

He further explained that Christmas begins with God and is centred on love for humanity, irrespective of tribe, race, or religion.
He noted that the season underscores the values of giving, sacrifice, faith and the consciousness of everlasting life, urging Nigerians not to reduce Christmas to mere celebration without reflecting on its deeper spiritual meaning.

Archbishop Yahaya concluded by wishing Nigerians a joyful Christmas and offering prayers for lasting peace, unity and national renewal.
