The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, with deep sorrow and profound sense of loss, announces the passing of Mallam Abubakar Sokoto Mohammed, mni, a distinguished scholar, media administrator, and mentor to many, who died yesterday.(11th December,2025)

Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, born in 1950 in Sokoto, lived a life defined by service, scholarship, integrity and unwavering commitment to national development. A respected academic and Senior African Fulbright Scholar, he obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he also began his lecturing career before moving to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru–Jos.
