From Aminu Suleiman
The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, has commissioned a fleet of commercial vehicles provided by a Sokoto-based transportation company, Amana Ride.
Speaking at the occasion held within the company’s premises at Shiyar Nufawa in Sokoto North Local Government Area, Alhaji Idris Gobir commended the foresight of the company for increasing the number of commercial vehicles in the state.
The Deputy Governor described the investment as timely, noting that it will go a long way in providing job opportunities for youths.
Alhaji Idris Gobir particularly acknowledged the efforts of the Managing Director, Dr. Shadi Sabeh, whom he said has brought significant development to the state.
He explained that Dr. Sabeh has successfully established reputable nursery, primary, and secondary schools, as well as a university within the state, adding that the government is truly proud of him.
The Deputy Governor called on all the drivers to be just and fair in the conduct of their duties.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Amana Ride Company, Dr. Shadi Sabeh, said the company decided to procure commercial vehicles which include buses, tricycles, motorcycles, and delivery motorcycles with a view to enhancing smooth transportation for the people of the state.
Dr. Sabeh added that the vehicles will increase the number of commercial transport options on the roads, thereby reducing transportation fares.
The Managing Director further stated that in order to ensure professionalism, all drivers operating the company’s vehicles were trained by the FRSC, NDLEA, and Islamic scholars.
According to him, the company is not only involved in transportation but also serves as a financial investment opportunity, as it is funded by investors’ capital contribution-an initiative he said is lacking in many parts of Northern Nigeria.
