Sokoto First Lady Inspects Ongoing Sponsored Statewide Free Male Circumcision At NOMA Hospital
The Wife of the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Her Excellency Dr Fatima Ahmed Aliyu, earlier today paid a working visit to the NOMA Hospital to inspect the ongoing statewide free male circumcision programme which is being undertaken under her sponsorship.
Accompanied by the wives of senior state officials, including Her Excellency Aishatu Idris Muhammad Gobir (Wife of the Deputy Governor) and Hajiya Farida Tukur Bala Boding (Wife of the Honourable Speaker of the State House of Assembly), the First Lady was received by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director and his management team.
The Chief Medical Director commenced the visit with a comprehensive briefing, detailing operational readiness of the medical team. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of medical professionalism to ensure the successful and safe execution of the programme, which has a target of 500 beneficiaries across the state.
In her address, Her Excellency Dr Fatima reiterated the fundamental objective of the initiative. “The rationale for this intervention is both straightforward and critical: to guarantee that no child in Sokoto State is deprived of this essential health procedure due to financial constraints faced by their parents. This programme is firmly rooted in the principles of health equity and the inalienable right to health for every citizen,” she stated.
Following a tour of the facility, the First Lady personally supervised the distribution of comprehensive recovery support packages to the parents of the beneficiaries. Each package contained essential items including food staples and a transport allowance to facilitate post-procedure care.
In a demonstration of maternal compassion, Mrs. Aliyu also paid a visitation to other patients in the hospital’s wards, offering them cash support, encouragement, and well-wishes.
The First Lady expressed profound commendation for the NOMA Hospital staff. “I am impressed by the diligence and professionalism exhibited by the Chief Medical Director and the entire medical and administrative team. I also extend my gratitude to the parents for their cooperation and wish all the children a swift recovery,” she remarked.
She concluded by emphasising the collective spirit behind the initiative, stating, “The success witnessed here today stands as a clear testament to the positive public health outcomes achievable through collaborative governance and shared commitment to the welfare of our people.”
