Sokoto MIDE, MST Inspect ICT Facilities In Secondary Schools
The Sokoto Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST), has jointly inspected ICT facilities at selected secondary schools proposed to serve as Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers across the state ahead of the upcoming WAEC and NECO examinations.
The exercise began with a visit to Idris Koko Technical College, Farfaru, Sokoto, where the team assessed the school’s ICT infrastructure and readiness to operate as a standard CBT center.
The inspection team also visited Ahmadu Bello Academy (ABA) and Government Technical College (GTC), Runjin Sambo, among other selected schools across the state, to evaluate their ICT preparedness for CBT operations.
The exercise aims to ensure that all proposed CBT centers meet national standards in infrastructure, connectivity, and power supply, in line with the requirements of examination bodies for computer-based testing.
Leading the delegation, the Honourable Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo, commended the management of the schools for their cooperation and emphasized the government’s commitment to upgrading the facilities to meet required standards for accreditation and full operation as CBT centers.
“This exercise forms part of the state government’s broader efforts under the administration of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto to strengthen digital learning infrastructure and promote technology-driven education across the state,” Hon. Kwabo stated.
The delegation also inspected the newly established 250-seat Bakhita ICT/CBT Centre at the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto to explore opportunities for collaboration in digital learning and computer-based testing.
Officials from both ministries, alongside Directors and Heads of Units from the Sokoto Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (SICTDA), participated in the exercise.
