SOSG To Improve Electricity Supply In The Year 2026
The Sokoto State Government has assure of of improved electricity supply beginning in 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to boost socio-economic development across the state.
The Commissioner for Energy, Alhaji Sanusi Danfulani, gave the assurance on Thursday shortly after defending the ministry’s 2026 budget before the State House of Assembly.
Danfulani described energy as the foundation of development, stressing that the present administration has accorded priority to the power sector to stimulate growth and improve the living standards of the people.
He described energy as the bedrock of development all over the world, saying Governor Ahmad Aliyu has placed great emphasis on the ccMinistry of Energy for the development of the state and the benefit of the people.
According to Dan Fulani the government’s major focus is on expanding access to electricity, noting that improved power supply would unlock development in other critical sectors of the state.
He added that efforts are also being intensified in the area of renewable and environmentally friendly energy, particularly solar power and other green energy initiatives, in line with global best practices.
Danfulani disclosed that a major power plant under the state’s energy plan is expected to be completed and put into use in 2026, which would significantly enhance electricity generation and availability in the state.
According to the commissioner the plant is expected to come on stream in 2026, and that will greatly improve electricity supply in the state.
The commissioner also urged residents to support government efforts by ensuring prompt payment of electricity bills, stressing that such cooperation is vital for the sustainability of improved power services.
Speaking on the budget defence, Danfulani expressed satisfaction with the outcome, saying members of the House of Assembly were pleased with the ministry’s presentation.
He said that they have successfully defended the budget and The House is happy with the ministry's proposals while assured to work in harmony with the government to achieve a common goal.
The assurance comes amid growing public concern over electricity supply in some parts of the state, with expectations that the planned interventions will address longstanding power challenges.
