2027 General Elections:- INEC Commences Phase 11 Of The Continuous Voter Registration In Zamfara

As part of it's preparation towards a successful conduct of 2027 general elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed Phase II of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Zamfara State.
The State INEC resident electoral commissioner (REC) Dr, Mahmud Isah made this known at a stakeholders meeting held today at the INEC headquarter in Gusau.
He said, the CVR exercise, which was kick started nationwide on 5 January 2026, was aimed at ensuring that all eligible Nigerians are given the opportunity to register and actively participate in the electoral process.
According to him, a credible elections depend on the collective efforts of all stakeholders, noting that, INEC cannot deliver a successful electoral process alone.
"In every successful Continuous Voter Registration and election depends on the collective will of all stakeholders and them to join hands with the Commission to ensure credible elections in 2027.
" Based on that, the Commission has approved online pre-registration on a continuous basis, alongside in-person registration at INEC Local Government Area offices nationwide, he said.
The resident electoral commissioner pointed out that, In Zamfara State, registration is currently taking place at 14 INEC Local government offices and the state office in Gusau, making a total of 15 registration centres.
Dr. Isah explained that the CVR exercise is open to new voters aged 18 years and above, individuals who have not registered previously, those seeking to replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), voters wishing to transfer their registration, and persons who need to update or correct their voter information.
He described obtaining a PVC as a civic responsibility, emphasizing that, it remains the only instrument that qualifies citizens to vote or contest elective offices in Nigeria.
The REC appealed to political parties, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society groups, security agencies, and the media to intensify sensitization efforts and encourage eligible citizens to participate in the ongoing registration exercise.
The stakeholders meeting was graced by political parties leaders, security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, among others.
