ABF Flags Off Distribution Of Learning Materials For Almajiri Pupils In Sokoto

The Attahiru Bafarawa Foundation (ABF), under its Giving Back Initiative, has flagged off the distribution of learning materials and the commencement of empowerment training in various vocational skills for Almajiri pupils in Sokoto State.

The programme, implemented through the Almajiri Sports Programme Committee, covers two female Tsangaya schools, Modibbo Hauwa’u Mabera in Sokoto South Local Government Area and Modibbo Umaima Alkali in Sabon Birni, Sokoto North.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Almajiri Sports Programme Committee, Malam Yahaya Muhammad Boyi, expressed gratitude to Allah and to the founder of the Attahiru Bafarawa Foundation, former Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, for donating ₦1 billion to support orphans and vulnerable persons across the state.

He explained that the donation is targeted at improving access to healthcare, education, skills acquisition and religious development for the less privileged.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Attahiru Bafarawa Foundation, Giving Back Initiative, Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki Sadaukin Sokoto, thanked Dr. Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa for what he described as a rare and exemplary act of philanthropy.

Maidoki called on individuals and wealthy Nigerians to emulate the foundation’s humanitarian efforts, stressing that collective responsibility is needed to address the challenges facing vulnerable groups.

He also cautioned beneficiaries against selling the items distributed to them, urging them to make proper use of the support to improve their livelihoods.

Earlier, the Secretary of the Almajiri Support Programme committee, Kabiru Sayyadi, outlined the items to be distributed under the initiative.

According to him, the programme is divided into two major components: the distribution of learning materials to Tsangaya schools and vocational skills empowerment.

He said the learning materials include about 100 copies of Islamic texts such as Ahlari, Ismawee, Iziyya, among others.

The skills acquisition aspect covers training and equipment in tailoring, shoe making, carpentry and snacks making

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Sokoto State, Ahmad Baba Altine, commended the foundation for its intervention and called on politicians, particularly former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, to establish similar foundations to support the less privileged, as done by Attahiru Bafarawa and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako.

The event attracted religious leaders, government officials, community stakeholders and beneficiaries, who commended the foundation for its sustained commitment to social welfare and human development in Sokoto
