The Sokoto State Government has approved the sum of ₦8.4 billion for the reconstruction of the burnt section of the Sokoto Central Market, Governor Ahmad Aliyu has disclosed.
The governor made this known at the Government House, Sokoto, during the disbursement of funds to contractors handling the project. He said 50 per cent of the contract sum had been released to enable the contractors mobilise to site
Governor Aliyu explained that the reconstruction work, which is expected to be completed within three months, was awarded to some traders in the state as part of efforts to empower local businessmen and stimulate economic activities.
