Zamfara Marks 2026 Armed Forces Celebration And Remembrance Day, Assures Support To Security Personnel

Zamfara State government has today Thursday marked Armed Forces Celebration and remembrance day reiterating its commitment to continue supporting the Armed Forces and other security agencies in tackling insecurity across the state.
The assurance was made by Governor Dauda Lawal during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony held at the Trade Fair Centre, Gusau, where he paid tribute to fallen heroes who gave their lives in defence of Nigeria’s unity and territorial integrity.

He described the celebration and remembrance day as a solemn occasion dedicated to honouring the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of officers and men of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and other security agencies.
The governor who spoke through the secretary to the state government malan Abubakar Nakwada, noted that the occasion was not merely ceremonial but a sacred duty to reflect on the supreme sacrifices of gallant personnel who ensure peace and security across the country.
He acknowledged that Zamfara State has, in recent years, borne a heavy burden of insecurity and Commended security personnel for confronting banditry, terrorism, and other criminal activities with resilience and dedication, often at great personal risk.
The governor reassured security agencies of the state government’s continued cooperation, pledged sustained collaboration with the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to strengthen security operations, improve logistics and welfare, and enhance intelligence-driven strategies aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
He however extended condolences to the families of fallen heroes, particularly widows, and children, assuring them that their loved ones did not die in vain.
According to him, the state government would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and wellbeing of these families.
Governor Lawal called on citizens to draw inspiration from the ideals of unity, selflessness, discipline, and patriotism for which the fallen heroes stood, urging residents to work together across ethnic, religious, and political divides to promote peace and mutual understanding.
He further appealed to the people of the state to support security agencies through cooperation, timely information-sharing, and respect for constituted authority, expressing optimism that Zamfara would overcome its security challenges.
He prayed for the eternal rest of the departed heroes and asked God to continue to bless Zamfara State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
