Aliyu Approves Enrollment of 53 Qur’anic School Teachers, Donates Motorcycles to 259 Graduates

Governor Ahmad Aliyu has directed the Sokoto State Ministry for Religious Affairs to liaise with the Ministry of Finance to ensure the enrollment of 53 teachers of Ma’ahadut Tahfizi Waddarasatul Qur’aniyya Hubbare into the state payroll effective from next month.
The governor gave the directive on Tuesday at the graduation ceremony of 259 pupils of the school, held at the Giginya Stadium in Sokoto.
Dr. Aliyu also announced a donation of ₦500,000 to each of the 53 teachers as part of the state government’s support to the institution. In addition, he approved the donation of one motorcycle to each of the 259 Qur’anic memorizers and a cash support of ₦10 million to the school.
He commended the founder of the school, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for his foresight and commitment to promoting Islamic education in Sokoto State. The governor congratulated the graduating memorizers and assured them of his administration’s continued support for religious and moral development initiatives.
In his remarks, Senator Wamakko thanked Almighty Allah for granting him the opportunity to establish the institution and praised the management and teachers for their dedication in nurturing Qur’anic scholars in the state.
He revealed that the school had received donations totaling ₦168 million from the state government and other well-meaning individuals to enhance its operations and infrastructure.
Earlier, the Director of the school, Dr. Gwani Malam Bello Na Malam Boyi, traced the history of the institution, which was founded in 1990, highlighting its steady growth and impact on Islamic scholarship.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of motorcycles to the graduating memorizers and cash gifts of ₦50,000 to the teachers, among other activities.
