Aliyu Launches 2026 Ramadan Package for 18,400 Vulnerable Citizens

Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State,has launched the 2026 Ramadan Package for 18,400 orphans, widows and vulnerable persons across the 87 districts of Sokoto State, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to social welfare.
The flag-off ceremony, held at the Government House in Sokoto, marked the commencement of the distribution of 9,200 bags of rice, 9,000 clothing materials and a cash grant of ₦10,000 to each beneficiary.
Governor Aliyu said the intervention was designed to ease the burden on vulnerable groups during the holy month of Ramadan and the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
“This gesture is aimed at providing relief and ensuring the welfare of orphans, widows and the needy during Ramadan and Sallah festivities,” the governor stated.
He stressed that the initiative forms part of broader efforts by his administration to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged residents across the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the State Zakkat and Endowment Agency, Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, commended the governor for sustaining and expanding the Ramadan support programme, particularly the increase in cash assistance from ₦5,000 to ₦10,000 per beneficiary.
Maidoki assured that the agency would ensure the items and funds are distributed to genuine beneficiaries in all the 87 districts.
Also speaking, the representative of the Sultan and District Head of Bodinga, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Abdulra’uf, lauded the governor for sustaining humanitarian initiatives similar to those championed by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko. He urged beneficiaries to appreciate the gesture and prayed for the success of the administration.
In a vote of thanks, the District Head of Shagari, Alhaji Bala Shagari, expressed gratitude to the governor for his compassion toward vulnerable citizens in their communities.
The event featured the symbolic presentation of rice, clothing materials and cash assistance to selected beneficiaries.
