KBSG Distributes Grains, Cash to Victims of Bandit Attacks

Hundreds of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kebbi State have received relief materials from the state government to cushion the effects of banditry on their communities.
A total of 1,800 bags of assorted grains comprising rice, guinea-corn and maize-along with N17 million in cash were distributed to IDPs currently taking refuge in Ngaski, Yauri, Shanga and Koko-Besse Local Government Areas on Sunday.
Governor Nasir Idris constituted a committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Empowerment, Muhammad Hamidu Jarkuka, and approved the release of the food items and cash as an interim relief measure for victims of bandit attacks.
The Commissioner,alongside other members of the committee, delivered the relief materials to beneficiaries in Birnin Yauri and Ngaski in Ngaski Local Government Area; Tondi in Yauri Local Government Area; Shanga, the headquarters of Shanga Local Government Area; and Koko town in Koko-Besse Local Government Area.
At each distribution point, which took place at the palaces of the District Heads, the Commissioner conveyed the sympathy and condolences of Governor Nasir Idris to the victims over the criminal attacks carried out by bandits in their communities.
“We are here to deliver relief items approved and released by Governor Nasir Idris. He remains tireless in ensuring the security and welfare of all residents of Kebbi State,” Jarkuka said.
He noted that the Governor consistently responds to emergencies and situations of need, adding that the committee was mandated to convey the Governor’s condolences over the unwarranted attacks that led to displacement, loss of lives, injuries and kidnappings in some communities.
“In continuation of his compassion and kindness, the Governor has directed that food items and cash be distributed to you strictly as succour for Internally Displaced Persons,” he added.
Jarkuka disclosed that ' Ngaski Local Government Area received a total of 633 bags of grains, 211 bags each of rice, guinea-corn and maize, along with N6 million in cash.
' Yauri Local Government Area received 315 bags,105 bags each of the three grains and N3 million. Shanga Local Government Area received 537 bags-179 bags each of rice, guinea-corn and maize-with N5 million, while Koko-Besse Local Government Area received 315 bags-105 bags each-with N3 million, he explained.
In separate remarks, the District Head of Birnin Yauri, Sarkin Gabas; the District Head of Tondi, Dangaladiman Gungu; the District Head of Koko, Sarkin Koko; and the Chairman of Shanga Local Government Area, Maiunguwa, expressed gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris for his compassion, benevolence and fatherly care toward the affected communities.
