Kebbi Sets Up Committee to Provide Relief Assistance to Displaced Victims in Yauri, Shanga, Ngaski,Koko Besse LGAs

The Kebbi State Government has constituted a high-powered committee to provide relief assistance to victims displaced by insecurity in Yauri, Shanga, Ngaski and Koko Besse Local Government Areas.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

According to the statement, the establishment of the committee is a deliberate response by the state government to address the humanitarian challenges arising from recent security threats in the affected areas.

The committee has been directed to immediately swing into action and commence the provision of relief assistance to displaced victims in Yauri, Shanga,Ngaski and Koko Besse Local Government Areas. Members are to begin operations latest by Monday, 2nd January, 2026, without delay.

The terms of reference of the committee include relocating immediately to the affected local government areas and ensuring the continuous provision of relief materials to displaced persons until normalcy is fully restored.

Members of the committee include the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs,Hon. Muhammed Hamidu Jarkuka, Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Chairmen of Yauri, Shanga,Ngaski and Koko Besse Local Government Areas and  Directors of Social Services of the four LGAs.

Other include Nafiu Bello ,Ministry for Internal Security, as well as representatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS). 

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, will serve as Secretary of the committee.
