L-PRES Hands Over Renovated Four Veterinary To SOSG
From Aminu Suleiman

Livestock farming is one of the major means of livelihood for the people of Sokoto State, as a large number of residents depend on it for their economic survival.
Over the years, livestock farming has been recognized as one of the major businesses not only in Sokoto State but across Northern Nigeria.

However, the challenge of favorable working condition in veterinary clinics and modern facilities has hindered many farmers from fully realizing their potential and improving their productivity.

Livestock farmers are therefore in dire need of these facilities, hence the intervention aimed at promoting and strengthening the sector.
These are some of the reasons why the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project in Sokoto State initiated this intervention to enhance the livestock sector on one hand and encourage farmers on the other.

As part of the initiative, L-PRES renovated four (4) veterinary clinics located in different parts of the state to improve service delivery to farmers at both state and local government levels, as well as to provide a conducive working environment for veterinarians.
The renovated clinics are located at Fakon Idi area in Sokoto North Local Government Area, Native Authority Complex in Sokoto South Local Government Area, Dange Shuni Local Government Area, and Bodinga Local Government Area respectively.

Speaking during the handover of the renovated facilities to the representative of the Commissioner, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, the State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, explained that in addition to the renovation of the clinics, L-PRES also trained veterinarians on various skills to enable them effectively manage and operate the facilities.

Sirajo Abubakar further stated that the L-PRES Project was designed to promote livestock activities and enhance their commercialization in the state.
