The Governor gave the directive while receiving the Report of the 2025 State Hajj Operations at the Government House, Sokoto, noting that the reforms were necessary to address the challenges experienced during the last pilgrimage.

Dr. Aliyu instructed the agency to fast-track restructuring, coordination, discipline and service delivery in preparation for the 2026 Hajj exercise, with a view to improving the welfare of pilgrims from the state.
He commended the State Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Umarun Kwabo (AA), members of the Hajj delegation and the management of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency for their dedication, transparency, commitment and sincerity in the discharge of their duties.

The Governor assured them that the state government would carefully study and implement the recommendations and suggestions contained in the report to ensure more successful Hajj operations in the future.
Earlier, the State Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Umarun Kwabo (AA), represented by a member of the 2025 State Hajj Delegation, Alhaji Bello Idris, highlighted the successes and challenges recorded during the exercise.
