Sokoto Holds Special Prayers as Wamakko Marks 73rd Birthday

Special prayers were on Friday offered in five Jumu’at mosques across Sokoto metropolis in honour of the 73rd birthday of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
The prayer sessions, organised by the Elders Association of Guiwa Low-Cost and its environs, were held at the Usman bin Affan Juma’at Mosque, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko Juma’at Mosque, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Juma’at Mosque, Isa Wasagu Juma’at Mosque and Sultan Muhammad Maccido Juma’at Mosque.
At the Usman bin Affan Juma’at Mosque in Gawon Nama, five Islamic scholars led a special prayer session shortly after the two raka’at Jumu’ah congregational prayers.
The clerics prayed for Allah’s blessings upon Senator Wamakko as he attains 73 years, asking for good health, wisdom and strength to enable him continue serving the people and humanity.
They also sought divine protection and guidance for him to sustain his advisory and fatherly role to the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
Prayers were equally offered for Governor Aliyu, with supplications for divine guidance and protection as he continues to lead Sokoto State.
The scholars further prayed for peace, unity and stability in the state and the country at large.
Among dignitaries at the Gawon Nama prayer session were Governor Ahmed Aliyu; former Governor of old Sokoto State, Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim, mni; Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala Bodinga; Deputy Speaker, Kabir Ibrahim Kware; members of the State Legislature; APC State Chairman, Isa Saddiq Achida; Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa; and Chief of Staff, Government House, Aminu Haliru Dikko, mni.
Also in attendance were local government chairmen, commissioners, Chairman of the APC Elders Committee, Aminu Tambari Tafida; the new Baraden Wamakko, Alhaji Ahmed Barade; special advisers, senior special assistants and other party leaders.
Senator Wamakko, a former governor of Sokoto State, will clock 73 on March 1. Well-wishers prayed for long life, prosperity and continued wisdom in his service to the people.
