The National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), Organises A Two-Day Workshop On Human Resource Capacity Training On Cancer Registration In Sokoto.

The National Institute For Cancer Research And Treatment (NICRAT) In Collaboration With Inkwell Dynamic Concepts Limited have  organized a two-day human resources capacity building for cancer registrars in Sokoto State.

The capacity building was organized at Sokoto cancer registry office, with the aim to enhancing participants  practical skills in cancer registration, coding, data management and data quality.
In an opening remarks malan Aminu Aliyu, from the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). said he was at the training place on behalf of the Director General of the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), Professor Usman Aliyu Malami.
The Head of Cancer Surveillance and Monitoring, Dr. Joy lya-Benson.

He said, "With great pride and optimism that I welcome you to this two-day capacity-building training on data quality for cancer registrars. Your presence here reflects our shared commitment to strengthening cancer surveillance and improving cancer outcomes in Nigeria".
According to him, every data point is a person, a family, and a community, the quality of the data you generate shapes our understanding of the cancer burden, informs national policies, attracts investment, and guides life-saving interventions.
 As cancer registrars, you not merely data custodians-you are key contributors to the national cancer responds.
Malam Aminu added that, the  training marks an important step toward reinforcing accuracy, completeness consistency in cancer registration, in line with global standards. 
He however encouraged the participants to engage actively, exchange knowledge, and adopt best practices that will enhance the credibility and impact of our cancer data.
NICRAT remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening human capacity and building resilient cancer registries across the country. Together, through collaboration, professionalism, and dedication, we can generate data that drives action, reduces inequities, and strengthens cancer prevention and control in Nigeria.
Also speaking the Chief Medical Director Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital Dr, Anas urges the participants to key in as much as they can to learn all what they are going to be taught within these two days.

The CMD who spoke through professor Usman Sani hoped that they will use the knowledge they acquire to improve the services within their hospitals.

In an interview with Bello Bala Sokoto, who spoke on behalf of the participants, has said that the training came at a right time. 
 He said, they are going to pay more attention during the training, so that they will benefit from what resource persons will teach them. 

 He noted that, they will extend their experience to other colleagues who were not able to attend the exercise, he however thanked the organizers of the training workshop and urged them to continue with the gesture.
