Aliyu, Sultan Reaffirm Strong Ties, Dismiss Rift Rumours

Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has reaffirmed the cordial relationship between the state government and the Sultanate Council, dismissing speculations of any rift between the two bodies.
The governor stated this while receiving the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, during the traditional Sallah homage at the Presidential Lodge in Sokoto.
Aliyu attributed reports of a strained relationship to some social media users, accusing them of spreading unfounded claims to mislead the public for personal gain.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions, announcing plans to remodel the palaces of District Heads across the state within the year.
He also directed the Commissioner for Local Government to begin the project with the palace of the District Head of Wurno.
The governor further disclosed that arrangements were underway to review the allowances of traditional rulers upward to improve their welfare.
In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto congratulated the governor on the successful completion of Ramadan and the Sallah celebrations, pledging continued support and cooperation to the administration.
The monarch also appealed to the state government to address the needs of traditional rulers, particularly in the provision of official vehicles and the renovation of their palaces.
