KDHA Passes 2026 Local Government Budget Into Law

The Kaduna State House of Assembly (KDHA) has passed into law the 2026 budget for the 23 local government areas in the state, approving a total sum of N152.4 billion
The approval followed the 2026 budget defence by the 23 local government chairmen and subsequent harmonisation by the House Joint Committee on Appropriation and Implementation
Presiding over the plenary, the Speaker of the House, Hon.Dahiru Liman, said the approved budget would significantly enhance socio-economic growth and infrastructural development across local communities in the state
Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Implementation, Hon. Yunusa Pambegua had presented the report of the Joint Committee to the House, which was unanimously adopted by members
Pambegua disclosed that all the 23 local government chairmen appeared before the committee for thorough scrutiny and defence of their proposed 2026 budgets, in line with legislative tradition
“All the 23 local government chairmen were invited, and they all appeared before the Committee to brief us on their budget performance for last year and to defend their budget proposals for the year 2026,” he said
The Speaker expressed optimism that effective implementation of the approved budget would improve the living standards of citizens, particularly at the grassroots
“The approved funds will significantly enhance socio-economic growth and infrastructural development across the local communities."
"I am optimistic that effective implementation of the budget will improve the living standards of citizens at the grassroots,” Liman stated
The passage of the N152.4 billion budget is expected to strengthen service delivery and accelerate development projects across the 23 local government areas in Kaduna State for the 2026 fiscal year.
