Polio Immunization:- Zamfara To Immunize 1.4M Children

No fewer than 1.4M children under the ages of five were targeted for this round of polio Immunization in Zamfara state.
This was disclosed by the state incidence manager, polio Emergency Operation Center, (EOC) Dr, Muhammed Murtala Salahuddeen at a press conference held in Gusau.
He said, to make the exercise a successful one adequate cartons of Indomie were made available to serve as plus, and the mothers of the children would benefit from the gesture to serve as motivation to others.
Dr. Mohammed Murtala Salahudeen however informed the journalists in attendance that, the aim of the conference is to sensitize the people of Zamfara State on the importance of receiving the polio vaccine, while emphasizing the need for parents and guardians to ensure that their children are vaccinated in order to protect their health.
At the media engagement some health officials who gave their contribution explained that polio is a dangerous disease that can cause paralysis among young children, especially if they are not vaccinated. They further stated that vaccination remains one of the major strategies used by the government and health organizations to protect children from contacting the disease.
They further called on parents and community leaders to cooperate with health workers to ensure the success of the vaccination campaign, urging members of the public to welcome vaccination teams into their homes whenever they come around for the exercise.
The conference also provided an opportunity for journalists to ask questions and obtain more information about the vaccination campaign so they can help disseminate accurate information to the public.
More so the people of the state were urged to give full support and cooperation to the vaccination exercise in order to safeguard the health of children and completely eradicate polio.
