Aliyu Praises Tinubu’s Leadership, Reaffirms Commitment to Rule of Law

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has reaffirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is steering Nigeria towards a positive and progressive path through purposeful leadership.
The governor made the remark on Monday at the 2026 Caliphate Bar Law Week held in Sokoto, where he commended the President’s leadership style as diligent and patriotic.

According to him, “The President has been piloting the affairs of the nation diligently and patriotically. He is putting Nigeria on a positive and right path.”
Aliyu described the Law Week as a significant event and reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting the rule of law.

 He added that his government has maintained a cordial relationship with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) while intensifying efforts to strengthen the administration of justice in the state.
The governor, who was honoured with the NBA award of “Exceptional Leadership,” expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that it would further motivate him to do more for the association and the people of Sokoto State.

In his address, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, commended the harmonious relationship among the arms of government in the state, describing it as vital for development.

Fagbemi said such cooperation is worthy of emulation, stressing that meaningful development can only be achieved in a peaceful and collaborative environment. He also described Sokoto State as having “a mature governance structure.”

Also speaking, the Minister of State for Works, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, praised the NBA for its role in promoting the rule of law and acknowledged the consistent support it enjoys from the state government.

The Chief Judge of Sokoto State, Justice Mohammed Sifawa, lauded the NBA for its contributions to the advancement of justice delivery and commended Governor Aliyu for his strong support to both the Bar and the Bench.

Earlier, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Nasir Binji, appreciated the governor for promoting financial prudence and accountability, as well as prioritising the welfare of staff in the Ministry of Justice and judicial officers.

Similarly, the Chairperson of the NBA in the state, Mrs Rasheedat Muhammad, commended the governor for sustaining support to the association and fostering a cordial relationship between the Bar and the state government.

The highlight of the event was the launch of the Caliphate Law Journal, with Governor Aliyu donating N30 million to support the initiative.
