Gov, Ahmad Aliyu Reaffirms Commitment To The Development Of Education

The Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, participated in the matriculation ceremony of newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session at Sokoto State University, where he reaffirmed his administration’s strong commitment to the development of education in the state.
Represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Isa Muhammad Maishanu, the Governor congratulated the newly admitted students and urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and dedicated to academic excellence.
He encouraged them to be worthy ambassadors of their families, communities, and the university.
The Governor commended the university’s management for its efforts in advancing academic excellence and assured continued government support.
He emphasized that his administration remains committed to investing in infrastructure, improving learning facilities, and enhancing the welfare of both staff and students.
He further disclosed that his government has cleared the backlog of unpaid staff allowances and will sustain the regular payment of all earned entitlements to motivate staff for efficient service delivery.
In addition, he noted that the monthly cash allocation to the university has been restored to ensure smooth operations.
He also revealed that efforts are underway to renovate the Vice-Chancellor’s quarters and upgrade other critical facilities within the institution.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. M. B. Yerima, expressed appreciation to the Sokoto State Government under Governor Ahmad Aliyu for its unwavering support.
He noted that the university has continued to rank among the fastest-growing institutions in Nigeria, particularly in the areas of research, innovation, and infrastructure development.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Ambassador Abubakar Muhammad Sani, reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to providing strategic leadership to ensure that the university continues to grow as a center of academic excellence.
He advised the newly admitted students to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing the institution.
Other dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Kabir Garba Gobir, and the Director of Administration, Jibrin Saadu, among others.
The ceremony marked the formal induction of the new students into the university community, symbolizing the beginning of their academic journey and responsibilities.
