Kaduna Assembly Passes Bill to Establish State Electricity Regulatory Commission

The Kaduna State House of Assembly (KDHA) has passed a bill establishing the Kaduna State Electricity Regulatory Commission, aimed at creating a commercial and technical regulatory framework for the state’s electricity market

The passage of the bill was followed by the consideration of a report presented by the Chairman of the Joint Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure, as well as Judiciary, Alhaji Muhammed Nasiru

 This was subsequently followed by the third reading and final passage of the bill into law

The newly enacted law provides for the establishment and administration of the Kaduna State Electricity Regulatory Commission,
also sets out guidelines for a structured commercial and technical framework to regulate the electricity market within the state 

The law also seeks to promote the adoption of green technology and ensure a sustainable electricity supply across the State 

 It is designed to guarantee a safe, reliable, and efficient electricity system while aligning with existing federal regulations.
