SOSG Leads Nigeria in Promotion of Religious Activities

From Shehu M Wamakko

Governor Ahmad Aliyu has said Sokoto State is currently ranked as the best in promoting religious activities in Nigeria, attributing the feat to deliberate policies and sustained support for religious institutions.

The governor stated this during the commissioning of the Izala Jumu’at Mosque in Kirare village, Goronyo Local Government Area of the state.
Aliyu explained that his administration’s efforts in upgrading mosques and providing regular support to imams, their deputies and muezzins were key factors behind the recognition.

He noted that religious development remains a priority under his government’s nine-point agenda.
He added that the construction and renovation of Islamiyya and Qur’anic schools, as well as cemeteries, would receive increased attention in the current year.

The Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammad Gobir, who performed the commissioning, congratulated the community on benefiting from the renovation of two Jumu’at mosques. He urged residents to make good use of the facilities and ensure proper sanitation and maintenance.
In his remarks, Chairman of Goronyo Local Government Area, Alhaji Zubairu Yari, commended the governor for various developmental interventions in the area, particularly in Kirare village.

Also speaking at the event were the Wazirin Sokoto, Sambo Wali Junaidu, and the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo.

Dignitaries at the ceremony included APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko; Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi; former Deputy Governor, among others.
