New Jumu'at Mosque Constructed By Senator Wamakko Commissioned In Sokoto

A new Jumu’at Mosque named after Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has been commissioned along Bodinga Road in Sokoto metropolis.

The mosque, known as the Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko Jumu’at Mosque, is among several Islamic worship centres constructed by the former governor of Sokoto State within and outside the state as part of efforts to promote Islamic activities.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, described Senator Wamakko as a fatherly leader who has devoted much of his life to the promotion of Islamic affairs.

The governor commended the senator for his continued support toward the propagation of Islam and urged wealthy individuals to emulate such charitable acts in order to earn rewards from Allah.
In his remarks, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko applauded the leadership style of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and highlighted some of the achievements recorded under the present administration.

He cited developments in agriculture, education, promotion of Islamic affairs, revival of the Hisbah Board, youth empowerment programmes, and economic growth initiatives across the state.
Other speakers at the event included the representative of the Sultan of Sokoto and Waziri of Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu; the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Associate Professor Jabir Sani Mai Hula; and the Chairman of Sokoto South Local Government Area, Mallam Ya’u Muhammad Danda.
They stressed the need for Muslims to safeguard the mosque and ensure regular attendance of congregational prayers.

The event also featured the turbaning of the new Chief Imam of the mosque, Professor Muttaka Yahaya Al-Amin, alongside his two deputies, Malam Abdullahi and Mushafa’u Musa. The turbaning ceremony was conducted by the Waziri of Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu.

Following the ceremony, the Chief Imam led his first Jumu’at prayer and urged Muslims to fear Allah, remain steadfast in worship, and constantly seek forgiveness.

The two-raka’at Jumu’at prayer attracted several dignitaries, including the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Idris Muhammad Gobir; Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga; Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo; Chief Judge of Sokoto State, Justice Sa’idu Muhammad Sifawa; representative of the Grand Khadi, Khadi Kasimu Yusuf Hausare; the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Head of Service, and other senior government officials.
