Gov Aliyu Seeks Teamwork to Drive Development
From Shehu M. Wamakko
Governor Ahmed Aliyu has urged members of the State Executive Council to work collectively towards fulfilling the promises made to the people during the election campaign, stressing that the administration remains committed to improving the living conditions of citizens across the state.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the Council, Governor Aliyu described the Council as a statutory body where critical issues affecting the state are discussed and decisions taken in the overall interest of the people.
The governor expressed appreciation to members of the Council for their commitment, contributions and sacrifices towards achieving the developmental objectives of his administration.
He reminded the commissioners and other political appointees that the mandate given to the government by the electorate was based on the promise of delivering good governance and improving the welfare of the people.
According to him, meeting the expectations of the citizens requires teamwork, dedication and effective coordination among political office holders and the state bureaucracy.
Governor Aliyu therefore urged Council members to work closely with Permanent Secretaries, Directors and other key officials in their respective ministries to ensure efficient service delivery and successful implementation of government policies and programmes.
He further called on the commissioners to redouble their efforts and provide purposeful leadership in their ministries, noting that the administration is determined to leave behind a lasting legacy of development and good governance.
The governor also prayed for divine guidance, protection and success for the administration in its efforts to move the state forward.
The inaugural Council meeting marked another step in the administration's drive to strengthen governance and accelerate development across Sokoto State.
