People in the state have once again been urged to always report suspicious movements in their areas to the appropriate authorities for prompt action.

Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, made the appeal while addressing Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) following the recent bandit attacks on Dalgulbi village and other areas in Tureta Local Government Area.
Alhaji Idris Gobir said security agencies alone cannot fight the menace of banditry without the support and cooperation of the people.

The Deputy Governor stated that the Ahmed Aliyu administration has never relented in its efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

This, he said, is in recognition of the fact that the primary responsibility of every government is to ensure the security of the lives and property of its citizens.
Alhaji Idris Gobir assured the people that the government would continue to evolve and implement more measures aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

He used the opportunity to commend security personnel in Tureta for pursuing and successfully neutralising some of the bandits after receiving reports of the attack.
The Deputy Governor sympathised with the people over the incident and prayed to Allah to grant eternal rest to the souls of those who lost their lives.

Alhaji Idris Gobir announced an assistance package of thirty million naira (₦30,000,000) and 300 bags of rice to the families of those who lost their lives.
Similarly, the government also donated 1,200 bags of rice and ten million naira (₦10,000,000) to the IDPs, as well as five million naira (₦5,000,000) to those receiving treatment for injuries sustained as a result of the attack.

The Deputy Governor appealed to the committee saddled with the responsibility of distributing the assistance to be just and fair in the discharge of its duties.

Earlier, the Acting Vice Chairman of Tureta Local Government, Alhaji Umar, thanked the state government for its concern and support for the victims.

Also speaking, the representative of the District Head of Tureta, Malam Bashir Sani, expressed appreciation to the government for the condolence visit.
The Deputy Governor was in company of the secretary to the state government Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, Chief of Staff Government House, Alhaji Aminu Haliru Dikko mni and commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs Alhaji Ibrahim Dadi Adare.
