Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has sponsored the rehabilitation of several water supply facilities across Sokoto State as part of efforts to improve access to potable water and complement the developmental programmes of the administration of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.
The intervention, which covers strategic water facilities in different communities, is aimed at addressing water supply challenges, enhancing public welfare, and improving living conditions for residents across the state.

An inspection team that toured some of the rehabilitated facilities visited the Dange Shuni Water Pumping Station, old airport Estate Water Facility, Gwiwa Water Pumping Station No. 6, Bado Water Station, and Arkilla Water Pumping Station to assess the progress and operational status of the projects.

Speaking during the inspection, the General Manager of the Sokoto State Water Board, Engineer Aminu Haruna Mika'ilu, commended Senator Wamakko for the intervention, describing it as a significant contribution towards improving access to clean and reliable water supply in many communities.
He explained that several of the facilities had remained non-functional for years due to damaged equipment and operational challenges, but were restored following Senator Wamakko's intervention after identifying the difficulties affecting water distribution in the affected areas.

Engineer Mika'ilu noted that the projects would further strengthen the efforts of Governor Ahmad Aliyu's administration in providing essential infrastructure and improving the welfare of the people of Sokoto State.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of Kasa ga Ruwa Global Ventures, Alhaji Umar Sanda, whose company is handling the rehabilitation works, said the intervention reflects Senator Wamakko's commitment to addressing the needs of the people through impactful constituency projects.

He disclosed that rehabilitation works are ongoing at more than ten additional water facilities across the state under the programme, with the aim of expanding access to safe drinking water and supporting socio-economic development.
Residents of communities benefiting from the projects expressed appreciation to Senator Wamakko and the Sokoto State Government, stating that the restored facilities would significantly reduce water scarcity and improve their daily lives.
