2027: Yari Pledges Peaceful APC Campaigns, Seeks Sultan’s Support

The Director-General of the APC 2027 Campaign Council, Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari Abubakar, has pledged that the party will conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yari made the commitment when he led a high-powered delegation of the APC 2027 Campaign Council on a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, at his palace in Sokoto.

He said the delegation was at the Sultan’s palace to seek his fatherly guidance, advice and prayers ahead of the party’s 2027 electioneering campaign.

Yari said the APC-led Federal Government had recorded several achievements which the party would present to Nigerians during the campaign, particularly under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He maintained that President Tinubu had, since assuming office, remained committed to promoting peace, unity and cohesion across the country.

Yari appealed to the Sultan for his continued support and prayers, assuring that the APC would conduct peaceful campaigns throughout the electioneering period.

Responding, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, urged politicians to avoid politicising insecurity in their campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Sultan said no government in the world could completely eradicate insecurity and poverty, but could only work towards reducing their effects on the people.

He urged politicians to conduct peaceful and hitch-free campaigns, play politics positively and respect the choices of the electorate in the interest of national unity and development.

The Sultan also advised Nigerians to carefully listen to the promises of politicians during the electioneering period and make informed decisions when choosing their leaders.

He wished the APC Campaign Council success in justifying the confidence reposed in its members and prayed for the country’s leaders, as well as continued peace and stability in Nigeria.

Also speaking, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, said the 2027 electioneering process had officially commenced across the country in line with the timetable and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Governor Aliyu said the delegation considered it necessary to pay an early visit to the Sultan, given his position as the spiritual leader of the Muslim Ummah, to seek his fatherly guidance, advice and royal blessings ahead of the elections.

He said the visit was also aimed at seeking prayers for peaceful and successful electioneering in the country.

Members of the delegation included the governors of Kebbi and Zamfara states, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Senator Adamu Aliero, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari and former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, among others.
