The Sokoto State Government has announced plans to  construct the dilapidated Layin Gidan Bello Dan Baba Road in Waziri C Ward, Sokoto North Local Government Area.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto made the announcement on Saturday evening during a condolence visit to the family of the late popular Islamic poet, Musa Mai Akwai Gidadawa.
The visit was part of the governor’s ongoing condolence visits to bereaved families across Sokoto metropolis.

Aliyu expressed concern over the deplorable condition of the road, saying he was touched by what he saw during the visit.

He assured residents of the area that the government would take steps to address the situation.

“I have seen the deplorable condition of this road and, frankly speaking, I am touched by what I saw,” the governor said.

He added: “I assure you that we will soon send a team of engineers to assess the condition of the road and advise the government on the appropriate action to take.”

The governor said the intervention was necessary given the importance of the road to the socio-economic activities and well-being of residents in the area.

Aliyu explained that his condolence visits had also enabled him to obtain first-hand information about challenges confronting communities across the state.

“We have, through these condolence visits, identified many challenges confronting communities, some of which we have since addressed,” he said.

He assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to implement people-oriented projects and interventions aimed at improving their living conditions.

The governor also solicited the continued support and cooperation of residents towards achieving the administration’s development objectives.
